Finding electronic devices when they are obsolete can be difficult. Depending on what you are looking for, it might be easier or not difficult to find them. Luckily, there are fairly reliable methods for finding even obsolete electronics. In this article, we will talk about some of the best places to purchase obsolete electronic devices.

Table of Contents

  • Best Places To Purchase Obsolete Electronic Devices
    • 1] eBay
    • 2] Craigslist
    • 3] Amazon Marketplace
    • 4] Yard Sales
    • 5] Thrift Shops
    • 6] Social Media Marketplaces

Best Places To Purchase Obsolete Electronic Devices

Obsolete Electronic Components

1] eBay

eBay is easily one of the best places where you will be able to find all kinds of electronic devices being sold. The good thing about shopping on eBay for these devices is the ability to search for them easily. You will be able to see all kinds of sellers selling whatever you are looking for without much effort by checking out eBay.

Also You will generally find a mix of individual sellers, refurbishing companies, and more selling these kinds of obsolete electronics. You will also typically be able to find a variety of sellers choosing to sell either through auctions or fixed price listings.

Therefore, eBay is a great way to find whatever you are looking for at varying price points. Another good thing about eBay is the buyer protection that comes with shopping on the marketplace. As a buyer, you will be protected not only through eBay’s buyer protection policy, but you will also be protected through PayPal if you use PayPal to pay for the electronics that you purchase.

This means that you are guaranteed to get whatever you order or else you will get your money back. This can be very useful if you are shopping for old and/or outdated electronics.

2] Craigslist

Another good option that you can consider if you are looking to obsolete electronics is on Craigslist. Typically, you will be able to find all kinds of different electronics being sold on Craigslist in your immediate area. You simply need to check for different listings that might suit your needs and description.

The only downside to shopping on Craigslist for these types of electronics that might be outdated is the lack of buyer protection that comes with it.

While you could always schedule a meetup of some sort, you are still going to be lacking protection that whatever you are buying actually works and that it doesn’t have severe issues with it that might not be identifiable until you use it for some time. However, sometimes it is the only option you have.

3] Amazon Marketplace

While you might be used to purchasing new products on Amazon, you will generally be able to find just about anything that you could possibly want on the marketplace. Because Amazon allows marketplace sellers to sell used products, you should be able to find just about any electronic component that you want available to purchase on the marketplace.

Like eBay, you are going to get a good amount of buyer protection when you make the decision to purchase via Amazon’s marketplace.

Along with this, you are likely going to be able to take advantage of Amazon’s free Prime shipping unless the item is being sold by a third party seller that doesn’t offer Prime shipping as a shipping method. This is a good and convenient way to find just about anything that you could possibly be looking for.

4] Yard Sales

While this is certainly not going to be a reliable way to find something specific, it is generally a good place to find all kinds of different outdated and obsolete electronics that you might be looking for.

Obsolete Electronic Components

Because of the random aspect that you are going to run into with yard sales, it is not recommended to go into yard sales expecting to find something specific. However, if you visit around various yard sales every weekend or so, you should be able to find all kinds of obsolete electronics that you might find useful.

5] Thrift Shops

Another option that you might have to find these sorts of obsolete electronic devices or components would be at thrift shops. Like yard sales and/or garage sales, you are going to have a very random aspect to finding things at thrift shops.

With that being said, if you are patient enough and willing to put in the work to find things that you might need, you should be able to find all kinds of obsolete electronics being sold at thrift shops in your area.

This is going to be a good idea to check out if you are looking for something that you cannot find being sold online. You can generally find a variety of obsolete electronics being sold at various thrift shops in your area.

6] Social Media Marketplaces

Another good option to consider would be various social media marketplaces like you would find on Facebook and others. You should be able to find local classifieds on social media platforms which is going to give you an easier way to check out what is available in your area.

That way, you don’t necessarily have to go to yard sales or various garage sales without knowing if they are going to have something that you are specifically looking for.

Overall, there are a lot of different ways to find obsolete electronics that you might be looking for. As long as you are willing to put in the time and effort, you should be able to find just about anything that you are looking for. The best and easiest method is by searching online and on various online marketplaces like eBay and Amazon.

However, there are plenty of other ways to find them as well. Checking on social media marketplaces is another good option that you can use. As well as looking and searching on Craigslist and other classifieds in your area.

Checking out yard sales and thrift shops can be a good method of finding something, but it has a random factor attached to it which will make it much more difficult if whatever you are searching for is a rare component or electronic. Follow the tips above and you should be able to find what you are looking to get.
