M.Tech. In Computer Science and Engineering Colleges
It is therefore understandable that digital market has a huge potential, and those who aren’t capitalizing on it are wasting a wonderful opportunity. Thus Computer Science and Engineering, in today’s market has become the most desirable qualifications for hiring companies.
A computer science graduate might think about pursuing his or her career into IT management or Software engineering industry. They could easily seek employment as IT Specialist, Data specialist, Software engineer, Program engineer, Network engineer, and System analyst etc. It isn’t necessary for computer science graduates to typically work for IT Management or only software industries. They could also diversify their careers into ones that require certain advanced specialist skills.
Fresher students can also pursue further education by opting for Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering) which is one of the best options to get advanced technical education. Apart from this course, you can also choose Master of Computer applications, Master of Computer science, Master of Information science, Master of Information management and so on. After completing a master’s degree, they could opt for a Doctorate degree too.
In this article, we will be discussing the top colleges that offer M.Tech in computer science without bearing the name of the prestigious IIMs.
1) THAPPAR UNIVERSITY, PATIALA
Thappar University is an extremely reputed college in India. It was ranked 26th all over India by NIRF in 2017, a pretty impressive ranking indeed. Admission to Thappar University is provided on the basis of a student’s rank in JEE Main.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers a regular 2 year Masters in Engineering program in Computer Science and Engineering. At the undergraduate level, the Department emphasizes primarily on software engineering, algorithm analysis and design, operating systems, computer graphics, database and information Systems Engineering and Networking Technologies. On the post graduate level, students get to specialize in any one, or sometime more of these streams.
The Department also gives the students the appropriate amount of exposure to be familiar with futuristic technologies, including things like Cloud computing and High Performance Computing. There is also the research by the department in the field of Software Engineering, Cloud Computing, Theoretical Computer Science, Data Mining, information systems and computer networking.
The Department has produced 30 PhDs in niche areas of Computer Engineering including Machine Learning, Data Mining and Cloud Computing. Department has an innovative lab having state of the art high performance computing infrastructure. It also has a special project to help visually impaired people by using Braille Printer and scanner.
Companies visiting the campus for recruitment includes: Google, Microsoft, DeShawn, Adobe, Amazon, Yahoo, Samsung, NVidia apart from Intel, IBM, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture to name a few.
2) JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY, KOLKATA
Admissions for the Master’s degree in Computer Science and Technology is done on the basis of GATE/GPAT Score. Apart from that, a candidate should have also passed a membership or an associate membership examination in the appropriate discipline conducted by all professional bodies, like Institution of Engineers (India)/Indian Institute of Architects/Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers/ Institute of Electronics Telecommunication Engineers etc. approved by Govt. of India, with at least 60% marks in aggregate, with 45% for SC/ST.
The Masters of Technology [B.TECH] in Computer Science and Technology program of Jadavpur University is an excellent option for students to consider. The extremely affordable program has an annual fee of ₹4800 for the tuition. The course is a 4 year full time course.
Students who are studying there presently or were in the past have described the experience as equivalent to IITs, but with the added benefit of not having to bear the burden of an expensive education.
3) BITS Pilani
BITS Pilani offers M.E degree in Computer Science and Technology in its Pilani Campus. It is a 2 year regular full time course. With a total fee of rupees 1.87 Lakh, BITS is sure one of the more expensive colleges of this list.
BITS Pilani has always maintained a high global rank, as evident by it being ranked 801-1000 in the QS World University Rankings during the academic year for 2017-2018. The Indian ranking of BITS Pilani is just as impressive, being ranked 21 in the year of 2017 by National Institutional Ranking Framework, 13 among universities and 16 among engineering colleges. It ranked 4th among engineering colleges by India Today in 2017, 5th by Outlook India and 7th by The Week.
Lab and research facilities of BITS Pilani are just as impressive as their ranking. With Advanced Data Analytics & Parallel Technologies Laboratory, Embedded Systems & Robotics Laboratory, Multimedia & HCI Laboratory, Networking Research Laboratory, Web Intelligence & Social Computing Laboratory, Software Defined Networking (SDN) Laboratory, the Computer Science and Engineering stream has all the bells and whistles they might need for enriching the students’ minds with the best research and knowledge.
Now for the placement record of BITS Pilani. according to a recent placement report released, the average package of a CSE graduate from BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus is around 25 Lakh per annum, excluding the offshore salaries, which go up to the 1/1.5 Crore mark as they are just converted from their US figures to Indian Rupees and do not give a fair idea about the average package, they are usually excluded from the average count.
4) NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, TRICHY
National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, commonly referred to as NIT Trichy, is a public engineering institution near the city of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, India. NIT Trichy gives admission to students applying for the Masters in Computer Science, through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, Common Admission Test and Common Entrance Test for Masters in Computer Applications.
