The Truth About Plagiarism: The Most Popular Google Search Queries

For anyone who’s ever taken a writing course at school or works in a job that involves writing or creative ideas, the word “plagiarism” sends a chill up their spine. Plagiarism is basically one big lie, the act of taking someone else’s ideas or words and pretending their yours. This can result in expulsion from school, awards being taken away, and worse, being sued for an idea you did not think of.

The Truth about Plagiarism

Plagiarism

Plagiarism at the end of the day is wrong but certainly avoidable. There are a multitude of steps you can take to be 100% sure of the uniqueness of your writing and that you give credit where credit is due.

On Google, the most popular search queries related to plagiarism all have one major thing in common: finding out exactly what it is and how to make sure you are not doing it.

Plagiarism checkers

In fact, the most common search query is “plagiarism checker.” People want to be able to submit their work online before submission, as they fear they may have copied words used by someone else. The best thing is, plagiarism checkers do exist and are quite common online.

When a checker is searched the most popular websites are “Codios,” “Plagscan,” “Cue text,” and “Plagiarism.” These sites basically do the same thing. They scan your uploaded document and search the World Wide Web for any indication of stolen text without giving credit. They will send you a report of your work and be completely honest about its content. This allows you to go back and edit, and make changes before you submit your work.

The next most popular search query is “plagiarism checker free.” The best part is? All the websites listed above, are FREE! The difference in adding the word free is minimal, as people around the world want to help you avoid plagiarism.

What is plagiarism?

Another popular search query related to plagiarism may be a shocker. People search “plagiarism meaning,” as many do not know what the word even means. Students hear it all the time in classroom settings, but after a while out of school, or if you have a teacher that does not explain well, the word plagiarism could be confusing to understand.

People may think they are never allowed to use another person’s words, or have to write an essay just using their own words without any quotes or facts to back up their writing material. This is wrong and ties to the next popular search query “how to avoid plagiarism”.

Avoid Plagiarism

This is what every single other search query in the top on Google has to deal with. People want to understand how to avoid plagiarism in any of their work. The good news is, it’s not as hard as you might think! The key to any good piece of writing is backing up your article but also giving credit to people’s words, ideas, or facts you used. This is the most important way to avoid plagiarism.

Cite your work! If you have taken a quotation from somewhere write down the book, website, or person you received it from and put it in your writing. If it is coming across as your words and not someone else’s, simply put it in quotations and say where/who you got it from. This will leave you completely safe from any plagiarism you may encounter.

The most popular search queries, on Google, related to plagiarism all have the theme of avoidance and figuring out what exactly it is. By using the tools available to you, you will never have to fear about plagiarizing another piece of work again! 🙂
